I was astounded when poet and Room Magazine reviewer Annick MacAskill compared my book Look After Her to Amy Bloom's novel, Away. So I finally got a copy from an overseas vendor, and it's an amazing book, full of fine observation, and funny, despite the traumatic experiences of the narrator. It has sentiments I identify with in sentences like this one: "She laughs, and Lillian is happy to hear it— it is the sound of bells on a warhorse, and she wonders what terrible things happened to this woman to make her so brave."
