This Female City

A collection of inter-related stories

On the run from rural Louisiana, from Cuba, from Boston, from the south side of Chicago, from small town Ontario, from war, from heterosexuality, from the usual, these escapees find each other in Toronto, on the ferry to Ward's Island, on the all night Queen Street streetcar, on bicycles built for the Ho Chi Minh trail, and live in downtown communes and suburban high rises. They dance at the Mariposa Music Festival, they assemble to free Leonard Peltier, and they link arms on the picket line at Artistic Woodworking. Their kids run naked at the Campus Co-Op Daycare and everyone writes at least one article for This Magazine.  Toronto the Diverse begins. (Inanna Publications, Fall 2020)
